Uncover wildlife-rich and scenically stunning landscapes on this exciting Best of Kenya Safari.
Search for rhino, elephant and more unusual species like gerenuk in the Laikipia plateau in the shadows of Mount Kenya and learn first-hand how Kenya’s conservancies blend tourism, conservation and communities in a sustainable way. Fly from here to the rich grasslands of the Masai Mara, where prides of lion laze in the shade and elephant herds roam the plains.
Between July and September, the Great Migration herds of two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelles arrive in the Masai Mara, in search of fresh grazing, one of nature’s greatest wildlife spectacles. Don’t be fooled, though; this is one of the most prolific wildlife regions in Africa and the game viewing is superb year-round. The guides in these hand-picked safari camps make this a stand-out safari experience, whether this is your first time in Kenya or your fifteenth.

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where your driver and 4x4 vehicle will be waiting for you.
The journey to your hotel takes around 30 minutes. Begin your safari with a stay at Ole Sereni hotel, which borders Nairobi National Park (the only national park in the world right next to a city). If the captivating views of the park aren’t enough, you can usually spot giraffe, zebra, antelope, and buffalo near the waterhole in front of the property.
End your first day in Kenya with a drink at the rooftop bar, admiring Nairobi’s skyline and getting ready for your adventure.
Ole Sereni’s views alone make it a one-of-a-kind destination. Its location makes it one of the most-visited hotels in Nairobi as well – it sits directly on the border of the Nairobi National Park. The hotel features several restaurants and a spa, making it the perfect complement to any East African experience.
There is a rooftop swimming pool and a gym for you to enjoy. Laundry facilities, room service, and free Wi-Fi are available as well.
This morning you will be collected by your driver and 4x4 vehicle and make your way towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy, with seriously beautiful scenery along the way.
During the four-hour drive, you’ll pass the region of Nyeri and be greeted by stunning views of Mount Kenya. After arrival at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, you’ll have time to eat lunch and settle into your new surroundings. Then, choose between relaxing in camp for a few more hours or heading out on an afternoon game drive before making your way back to camp for a delicious dinner, and maybe a drink or two.
During your second day at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, you can choose between visiting the Endangered Species Enclosure, heading off on a game drive, or venturing out on foot to explore the beauty of the conservancy.
Extend your time in the bush by enjoying a packed lunch in the plains, or head back to camp for a sit-down meal. If you choose to relax during the heat of the afternoon, you can take a night drive before returning to camp for a late dinner.
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp embodies an authentic East African experience. The camp has absolutely no permanent structures and makes use of an entirely eco-friendly design.
It is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River and blends seamlessly into the surrounding plains. With only eight tents, the camp offers an intimate safari experience.
Each tent has its own private veranda, which provides the perfect spot for watching the animals come and go along the riverbank when you’re not out exploring the region on a game drive or taking part in some of the many activities that are available.
After an early breakfast at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, head out for a three-hour game drive towards Samburu National Reserve. You’ll arrive in the heart of Samburu just in time for lunch at Elephant Bedroom.
This intimate camp offers simple elegance complemented by an exceptional safari experience. Like Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, it is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River, so wildlife is never far away.
Activities include two daily game drives, but, if you’re up for something more adventurous, heading out on a guided bush walk is always a great way to explore the reserve.
Elephant, monkey, and impala are among the camp’s many regular wild visitors – and the region is known for its lion and leopard numbers, too. Samburu also has unique wildlife such as gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grévy’s zebra, and beisa oryx, none of which are found in other areas of Kenya.
Elephant Bedroom is made up of just 14 spacious tents. The accommodations offer all of the comforts you could need, with an authentic African touch. Set against the backdrop of East Africa’s dramatic mountains, including Mount Kenya, Elephant Bedroom provides a wonderful safari experience.
The lodge has a beautiful plunge pool and deck area that overlook the region and take full advantage of the views on offer. Wi-Fi is available.
After your final morning at Elephant Bedroom, your driver– guide will transport you to either Kalama, Oryx, or Buffalo Airstrip, 30 to 60 minutes from camp. From there, you’ll catch a 90-minute flight to the Masai Mara.
You will be collected by a driver–guide who will take you to your next stop on this itinerary: Alex Walker’s Serian. It is the ideal place to spend the last few nights of your Kenyan safari.
The intimate camp has just five spacious rooms set above the Mara River, with views over the Oloololo Escarpment. Located in the private Mara North Conservancy, you’ll feel as though you’re in your very own piece of Africa.
You can enjoy daily game drives; however, if you’re looking for something more engaging, head out into the bush on foot or spend a night sleeping beneath the stars. Allow yourself to completely disconnect on your last few days of safari before heading back to the real world.
The camp is all about location and has only five spacious tents. All tents are set on hardwood decking, above the Mara River with views over the Olooloo Escarpment – the bathrooms are en suite and offer gorgeous views over the landscape as well.
There is no Wi-Fi available at Alex Walker’s Serian.
Enjoy your last breakfast at Alex Walker’s Serian before heading to Mara North Airstrip for your flight to Nairobi, where you can connect to your international flight home.
