Arrive at Tuningi Private Game Lodge

On arrival at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met and transferred by a scheduled shuttle flight to Madikwe Game Reserve. On landing, your ranger will meet you and transfer you by open vehicle to Tuningi Game Lodge.

Traversing over 75 000 hectares, Tuningi Private Game Lodge is situated on a hill, in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Ingeniously set amongst boulders and age-old Tamboti trees, the lodge offers visitors the utmost in luxury and hospitality, where you will find yourself enchanted by a world of intrigue and majestic beauty.

After lunch (subject to flight arrival time at the lodge), you will meet for your first exhilarating game drive in Madikwe Game Reserve.

The 75 000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the largest private game reserves in South Africa, and one of the few reserves in Southern Africa classified as malaria-free. Located in South Africa along the Botswana border, 20 kilometers from Gaberone, the reserve lies within a transition region between Lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld. As a result, the region is home to a tremendous diversity of fauna and flora – 86 mammals, 420 bird species and 105 tree species – including the black and white rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred back to the Madikwe Airstrip for your scheduled shuttle flight to ORTambo Airport. Here you will connect to another scheduled shuttle flight, this time to Kings Camp Airstrip. On arrival, your game ranger will transfer you to Kings Camp.

Kings Camp Private Game Reserve is situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve adjacent and open to the Kruger National Park. The reserve is a wildlife haven boasting a diversity of animal life including the ‘Big 5’. The reserve is also home to the famous white lions. The camp is positioned on the edge of a savanna plain scattered with Acacia trees. A waterhole, located right in front of the camp attracts a wide variety of wildlife day and night. Kings Camp offers gracious hospitality from a bygone era in a uniquely romantic ambience and invites guests to relax in fine colonial style.

Your afternoon game drive will commence late this afternoon. Africa’s big game abounds in the area and each day brings something different, as you explore the endless fascination of Africa’s wildlife in an open, state-of-the-art Land Rover. Whether it is a leopard on the hunt, lions roaring at twilight, hippo wallowing in the river, or a crocodile basking on a sandy bank; each viewing will enthrall.

Today your safari trip comes to an end. However, there is still an exciting morning safari game drive planned. You will get a wakeup call from your guide and make your way down to the dining area for tea and coffee which will be served with biscuits before departing on your morning adventure. You will have the opportunity to spot animals that have eluded you thus far. Arriving back at the camp after the safari drive, you enjoy breakfast then check-out from your rooms.

You will then depart for the airstrip where you wil catch a flight back to Johannesburg ORT International Airport.
