Mokoro day trip is a full day excursion into the Delta. Okavango Delta is the biggest inland delta and also listed as one of the seven wonders of the world. You will be transferred to the mokoro station at Boro. Embark on this day trip and travel through the water channels using a dug out canoe. This experience is very relaxing.
You will leave on a mokoro (dugout canoe) for a full day of viewing game, birds and some of Botswana’s most breath-taking scenery. Relax and explore the shallow hippo water-ways in a traditional mokoro. This breathtaking adventure will take you up snaking river channels and through the long grasses or papyrus. It is ideally suited as transport in the Delta as it can move quietly through shallow water, being pushed by a boatman using a long pole. Your day will be spent with a guide gliding silently down waterways, and a 1 hour game walk. On your guided walk you are likely to see elephant trails, especially if it has rained.
Our area of operation (Ng32 concession) measuring 1,225km² is ideally located in the Okavango Delta, neighboring Moremi Game reserve, there is abundance of wildlife and other great scenic and wildlife rich areas.
Mokoro Day Trip - Okavango DeltaGuests board a Mokoro dugout canoe at the Mokoro station and will be guided by local qualified guides and polers who take guests into the islands and surrounding channels for a unique experience that brings you close to nature. This trip heads north 45 minutes on water up to an area called the Boro. The boat transfer is dependent on water levels and transfers may be conducted by vehicle should the water levels not be high enough to access by boat. When get to the Mokoro station guests will be transferred into Mokoro dugout canoes. Once guests leave the Mokoro station they now enter into low poling mode for the rest of the trip. The rest of the day is spend poling and exploring the channels of the Okavango Delta with its array of aquatic life and breathtaking beauty. This experience brings you close to nature as you enjoy the sounds and close encounters with nature.
