This Kalahari Safari offers an insight into the culture and history of the Kalahari’s oldest inhabitants.

It is ideal for the adventure enthusiast offering breathtaking scenery, desert wildlife and the privilege of an introduction to the traditional lifestyle of the San Bushmen.

Please note: As the safari starts at 07h30 on Day 1, you will need to pre-night in Maun and purchase drinks for your safari the day before your safari starts. Bush Ways Safaris can assist with pre-safari arrangements (accommodation, transfers).
Camping safari requiring a minimum participation from the guests, i.e.: setting up the tent and packing it / carrying their bag from/to the vehicle at campsites.
The rest of the camp chores are carried out by our team made up of one guide and one camp assistant.

Itineraries

Day 1

Hainaveld region – nature walk with the San Bushmen

The safari begins in Maun where your guide will meet you at 07h30 at a pre-arranged meeting point. You will travel 180km to a game farm on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game reserve, set up camp and have a safari briefing. In the afternoon you will participate in a nature walk led by local San Bushmen trackers. They will share their intricate bush knowledge and give you an insight into their unique and intriguing culture. Camping at a lodge campsite with fixed ablutions. (L, D) Maun – Game Farm in Hainaveld area (northern border CKGR): 180km, 4h

Day 2

Central Kalahari Game Reserve – Passarge Valley – game drives

You will wake up as the sun rises and enter the pristine wilderness of the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next four days will be spent exploring the undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Kalahari, moving from camp to camp. Savour the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty on game drives and at camp. This is adventure camping in its purest form as water and communications are limited and we travel as a self-sufficient group. Camping is in a private designated campsite with fixed & bush ablutions. (B, L, D) Game Farm in Hainaveld area – Central Kalahari Game Reserve: 120km, 4-5h (including game drive)

Day 3

Central Kalahari Game Reserve – Passarge Valley – game drives

Game drives to explore the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Passarge Valley and surroundings. Camping is in a private designated campsite with fixed & bush ablutions. (B,L,D)

Day 4

Central Kalahari Game Reserve – Deception Valley – game drives

Transfer / game drive from Passarge Valley to Deception Valley. Game drives to explore the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Deception Valley and surroundings. Camping is in a private designated campsite with bush ablutions. (B,L,D)

Day 5

Central Kalahari Game Reserve – Deception Valley – game drives

Game drives to explore the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Deception Valley and surroundings. Camping is in a private designated campsite with bush ablutions. (B,L,D)

Day 6

Maun – room or chalet at Maun Lodge or similar – Optional scenic flight over the Delta

After our final morning game drive in the Kalahari, we return to Maun. In the afternoon, you will have the option of taking a scenic flight over the Delta (45 min. Maun to Maun scenic flight, rate TBA – to be booked during the safari, payment in cash only). This magical experience provides another perspective of the Okavango Delta’s distinctive water system. During the flight, it is even possible to spot large game animals such as Elephant, Giraffe and Hippopotami. The night will be enjoyed in the comfort of a lodge either in Maun or its outskirts. Day 7

Mauni - Comfortable Lodge

The safari officially ends at 08h00 on Day 7 at the lodge. Bush Ways can assist with your onward travel arrangements. (B)
